About my class

My second graders are active and love learning. I firmly believe that 21st century learners should have a voice and feel empowered to be in charge of their learning environment. With the Lakeshore Flex-Space A Place for Everyone classroom rug, my students will be provided with the opportunity to find which learning environment works best for them. A typical day in second grade comes with many different activities such as: small group instruction, collaborative projects, individual work time, and classroom meetings. I believe it is essential for students to be able to move around the classroom and find different ways to learn that meets their educational needs. Whether that be at a desk, standing, and sitting on a classroom rug. With the classroom rug, my students will be able to spread out during individual work time, gather for small group instruction, work collaboratively with their peers, and sit for a more focused whole group instruction. My goal for this classroom rug is to create a safe community for my students to take ownership in their own learning, as well as share and create a classroom culture that inspires creativity, discovery, and inclusiveness.
