These materials will help students focus their energies on being the best they can be and on learning the way that works best for each of them. Language, socio-economic, and ability barriers should not keep them from succeeding. In my classroom, I try to make sure that I address my students' different learning styles. Students that best express what they know visually are encouraged to make collaborative posters for assessments. The classroom marker set will help them put their creativity to work. For students that learn best by listening, the headphones will allow them to listen to a text and take part in online activities that may be above their independent reading levels. Whiteboards will help with our goal of Total Participation in the class, allowing shy students to submit responses and take part in discussions without having to speak out. The copybooks will be put to good use by students who come to school without supplies. Many times parents do not have the resources to get them what they need when they need it. No child should miss out on that great feeling of opening up a brand new notebook that they know is all theirs. Finally, the fidget bands will hopefully help my kids that have a little more energy than certain situations call for. The bands will give them a way to burn off that energy without disturbing the other kids while keeping them more focused on the lesson.
