We will utilize the laptop with the SMART Board to present problems and practice math concepts, as well as watch video clips and use web based programs like brainpop. The students can then come up to the SMART board and use SMART note - a program designed for interaction. This interaction is key to engaging the students. Where some students feel they "just don't get math" - interactive games brought to the whole class can reach out to different learning styles. We will also be using the computer for our reading program that provides us with online resources such as: interactive games, songs, books and magazines.Students will create presentations and videos based on our reading and share them with classmates, friends and family. The laptop will make a difference by giving typically under-privileged children the resources to begin to level the playing field between them and the students they'll compete against to enter college.
