All of my students come to school excited to learn; and filled with much enthusiasm. One of their greatest joys is completing either Lexia Reading Core 5 and ST Math, both computer interventions, that help support their learning in our classroom. I notice that many of my Special Needs' students often prefer working on the rug, in a quiet corner of our classroom, or in the reading center. These students are often the most vulnerable of the vulnerable; and frequently require additional supports in order to be successful in our classroom.
The iPads would allow my Special Needs' students the much desired mobility and flexibility to work elsewhere in the classroom with fewer distractions while accessing the general education curriculum. My Special Needs' students have various disabilities, often coming from different backgrounds or households, and frequently have specific individual needs based on both academic and social emotional learning. These students would benefit tremendously from additional hands-on technology in our kindergarten classroom.
In closing, Kindergarten is the foundation of K-12 learning; and research has shown that our students profit most from a quality learning environment that involves hands-on technology. In this day and age, our kindergarteners must be both prepared and equipped for first grade and beyond. That being the case, your generous donations are an investment in our kindergarteners' future.
