I teach an English IV and Reading Apprenticeship. My reading apprenticeship class is filled with students with extremely negative reading identities. Many of them have never read a book for pleasure. They want to do well in school but don't really understand yet the value of literacy. My goal is to get them to love reading, to love literacy, and to use literacy to open doors in their lives.
