School counseling libraries give students the access to learning through characters they can relate to. These books would be use in classroom lessons, small groups, and one-on-one sessions to help student learn skills to cope with the situations in their lives. These books can help with bullying, making friends, grief, social skills, family changes, and much more. As a school counselor in a small rural school, I do not have very resources to bring into my counseling lessons and sessions. Having access to a strong counseling library would give me the opportunity to bring in engaging stories that the students can connect with and learn from. I would use these books to introduce the topic or skills we are learning about and then incorporate other activities or the students to practice and develop these skills in a safe learning environment. With your help we can empower my students to be strong individuals and to be successful in academics and personal/social growth.
