Traditional classroom seating arrangements can make a student feel unproductive, restless, and uninspired. Allowing students to choose the environment in which they work helps foster a sense of comfort. Students are more engaged in learning when they feel comfortable in their own space. Comfortable students are calm, focused, and productive. Not only are students more comfortable in a flexible seating setting, but they are also more receptive to learning. Flexible seating promotes community and collaboration among students as there is more movement throughout the classroom. When students are given more choice in the classroom, learning is shifted from teacher-centered to student-centered.
