The 10-meter measuring tapes will be used to measure distances our battery-powered carts move while the students time the motion. They'll be able to more accurately and easily measure the distances which will result in a more accurate calculation of speed. The 50-meter measuring tapes will be used to measure distances that exceed the 10-meter tapes, instead of the students having to "piece together" smaller tapes. These measuring tapes will greatly enhance our car project by allowing the students to more accurately measure distances that exceed one meter in length. The accuracy of their measurements will be very important when the cars are put into a situation of a collision and the students have to predict where the collision will occur.
