My 1st graders are working hard at learning their letters, building words, and creating sentences. Having a personal writing journal will allow them to take ownership of their writing, while being able to see their own progress as they fill the pages with their wonderful ideas. I have also asked for supplemental materials that will help my students to build their skills with phonemic awareness, word decoding, and reading skills which will in turn support their writing. Having these supplies will help me to support my learners and to build their confidence when writing in class.
