First grade is a year of tremendous growth! Students begin the year learning letter sounds and end the year reading and writing fluently. There is a LOT of hard work that goes on in between! Magnetic letters can be manipulated to blend sounds that make words. Magnetic words can be manipulated to make well-structured sentences. Our whiteboard mini-lessons are interactive and engaging! Students are so excited to come up to the easel and move letters around or mark up sentences with dry-erase markers. The other students love to write the letters and words on their own whiteboards. When they hold them up, I can easily see who needs more time, and who is ready to fly. It is truly joyful to see the look of pride in students' faces when they discover they are able to read!
