High school track and field is an extension of the classroom. With eighteen different events, there is a lot of learning and teaching happening with each practice and competition. We are looking for a tool that will help take our mechanics to the next level. Plyo Boxes do just that along with added strength and explosiveness training benefits. With so many athletes participating in the horizontal jumps, there can be too much downtime as student-athletes wait to use the sandpits. With only one coach available, it’s not uncommon for 20 or more students to be waiting at one time to practice jumping. We need alternative activities to make sure that every athlete is getting the most out of every practice. Plyo Boxes will allow for circuit training to occur for those who are waiting to use the sand pits. The boxes also will be used as an opportunity to work on jumping technique when the sand pits are too wet to jump into.
