In my Special Education classroom, students work on a variety of Functional Life Skills. One skill that we work on daily is food preparation. Students prepare a daily healthy snack each morning. The items in this proposal will enhance our current program and allow students to experience larger meal preparation projects. Students in my Special Education classroom feel a great sense of pride when they are able to prepare their own food. These items will allow my students to learn valuable life skills that they will be able to use at home and as they transition into adulthood. Some items will be brand new to our classroom... Electric Griddle - students will learn safe and easy ways to prepare breakfast foods. Waffle Maker - students can explore countless waffle recipes online (and they're way better than buying frozen!) Smoothie Blender - smoothies are easy, healthy and there's a flavor for everyone! Popcorn Air Popper - skip the microwave bags, air popping is better (and healthier) ...while others will replace aging kitchen items... Nonstick Pots and Pans New Silverware Matching Drinkware Set Kitchen Utensil Set Nonstick Bakeware Set Toaster Having these and other new items will make our classroom kitchen area even better while building this important life skill for my students.
