If this project is fully funded, each of my literature classes will have access to these Amazon Fire 7 tablets during their hour. The students will use these tablets to have greater access to literature that is not always available to them. Since this is a special education class, each student has some kind of accommodation. These accommodations can be addressed with the tablets. For example, some of my students need larger text, text to speech, and closed captioning. Most of my students will need these accommodations their whole life, so it is important that they are directly taught how to use these skills. With these tablets I will be able to give each student what they need to succeed. These tablets will also be a motivation tool to get these reluctant readers interested in the text. Many of these students have struggled with reading their whole lives, so it is not something that interests them. My hope is that presenting the information in a different matter, will reignite their love of learning.
