My classroom is riddled with the artwork of students who have found engagement by having creative outlets in the academic setting encouraged instead of stifled. This leads to future generations walking in to ask questions about the imagery they see with a focus on the mathematics and history entailed. When we draft class portfolios, contribute to the website, or simply wish to duplicate creations through media, we traditionally need to use the camera on our phones. Though cameras have improved over the years, most moments where a student with capital brings in a quality digital camera have truly stood out and made a difference for the rest of the class in a positive and powerful way.
Donating toward this camera for our classroom would allow students to have a consistent means to capture their work with the quality deserved. I want to have resources available to all students to prevent the shut off that follows with a lack of personal materials to have the same access as everyone else.
