Our school has a large courtyard that has amazing potential to be a great resource for our whole school. It could easily be an outdoor classroom or a place for classes to go to garden or complete science activities outside. However, the courtyard needs a lot of TLC. I have decided to take on this project as it will not only benefit my class but the entire school. This is something that my students are passionate about as well. My school is in the middle of an urban environment, so we do not have many gardening supplies readily available. We will need children's sized gardening gloves so that the children can stay safe while pulling weeds or planting. We also need shovels, trowels, hoes, rakes and a wheelbarrow. We need these materials to clean up the space as well as garden and make the space beautiful in the spring. These materials would give my students the opportunity to clean up the courtyard and create an amazing green space for our whole school. They are so kind and caring that this community service project would be perfect for them.
