In my classroom, communication doesn’t always come easily—but that doesn’t mean my students don’t have something to say. I teach incredible students with autism who are learning to build their social and pre-academic skills each day. They are bright, curious, and full of personality. They laugh at silly moments, light up during engaging activities, and are always eager to learn. However, many of them struggle to express their thoughts, needs, and ideas using words. Imagine having so much to say, but not having the tools to say it. Right now, that’s the reality for many of my students. Without reliable communication tools, they can become frustrated, disconnected, or unable to fully participate in learning and social interactions. But when given the right support, everything changes. That’s why I am requesting a laptop and two iPads to transform how my students communicate, learn, and connect.
