Right now, when my students enter our classroom library center, there are few choices for reading about favorite characters in a series of books. However, through reading aloud and small group instruction I have seen tremendous excitement in my students when introduced to characters such as Elephant and Piggie, Henry and Mudge, and Mercy Watson. To improve in reading, my students need access to a variety of engaging books on their reading level at their fingertips. Kids need to read a lot! Fluency improves when children repeatedly read favorite texts. What better way to encourage independent reading than to provide plenty of books about lovable characters that kids can't resist? Your donation will provide access to books that attract my students to reading every single day, which will foster a lifelong love of reading.
