My students are in need of a listening center. These cassette players and headphones will be resourceful for the English Language Learners (ELLs) in my classroom. This listening center will help my ELL students develop language proficiency, as well as assist them in text to speech recognition. Not only will my ELL students benefit from this wonderful resource, but this will aid ALL of my students in enriching their listening, speaking, and vocabulary skills. I also want my students to have an additional means of proper language modeling when I am not readily available. For example, when I am doing small group guided reading, I can also have students working on reading activities, which require them to use these cassette players and headphones. Children mimic what they hear and if they're listening to correct expression, rate, phrasing and intonation in the story, as well as meaningful vocabulary, then this will also help them gain reading fluency and become stronger writers!
