Our students use our calming corner to escape and learn to regulate their behaviors. Materials will be available for students to access when needed and for teachers to teach students appropriate replacement strategies for undesirable behaviors. Student enjoy activating and accessing the tools available to them in our calming corner when they are upset or when they need a break. Teaching appropriate self-regulation skills is crucial to school success. Students who can not appropriately regulate their behaviors in a smaller, more supportive classroom will need more support to be successful in a general education classroom. Independence is our ultimate goal!
