Since being at my school, I have had 1 piano broken, and 1 keyboard stolen. This is an instrument I used every day during my instruction, and the students love to listen to and have the opportunity to play it. I use the piano to teach many basic musical principles, such as pitch, melody, and rhythm; not only to teach notes. I use the piano to put a smile on student's faces when I play for them. Being able to have a piano in my classroom will not only aid in my instruction but will also aid in the free, safe atmosphere that I always strive to create in my music room. Music class gives the students a chance to sing their hearts out, whether they are right or wrong, but not feel self-conscious about it. It gives them a chance to get up and move and dance and express themselves in different ways, and this Digital Piano will be a major step in allowing this to happen.
