MLA is a dual-immersion, Spanish/English TK-8th grade public school in Oakland, CA. I work with students in grades 3-5 with weekly general music classes, and students in grades 6-8 with daily elective Band. The music classroom is a space that connects all students across grade levels, and has become a place where students come to relax and express themselves. Music supports their social-emotional health, provides an expressive outlet, and connects them to their peers.
