Help me continue to build our inclusive school community! I am an Education Specialist serving students with moderate to severe disabilities in a Special Day Class (SDC) on a public middle school campus. The disabilities of students in a class like mine range from Autism, Cognitive Impairment, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Emotional Disturbance as well as other severe learning and behavior difficulties. My students spend a part of their day in my SDC and part of their day in general education classes with typical peers with support. The focus of my program is to give students an enriched, challenging, well-rounded and socially rewarding middle school experience. I believe that children learn as much about forming and maintaining social relationships during the middle school years as they do academics. Creating positive, supportive, long-lasting relationships between our students is my goal.
