While we are very lucky and excited to be working in a newly renovated classroom, we do not have the finishing touches to make the room work for us! We are lacking some basic items such as whiteboards for collaboration, and some items needed to help the space feel less industrial. In this program, students are being taught the value of collaboration in solving real-world problems. We need our space to inspire our students to engage in critical thinking and brainstorming to come up with creative, imaginative solutions to problems, in a team format. Adding the white boards, rug and lamp to our classroom will help our goal of inspiring students to use creative, collaborative thought processes to solve problems. Creating such a space will help us keep ALL students engaged and feeling inspired to keep coming to class and working with teammates in this welcoming environment. Creating this professional space will give students important skills to take with them into the real world, and help us send all our students out into the real world with important problem solving and collaboration skills. We want our students to be change makers and leaders and believe that creating this type of learning environment will help foster the needed skills in our students.
