You might say that I’m an oldie but a goodie! This will be my 27th year of teaching! I have always tried to make my classroom a fun and engaging place to learn. Today’s technology makes learning fun by creating a dynamic and engaging learning atmosphere that cannot be achieved through textbooks or other written materials alone. It allows the students a more interactive experience as they share each other’s work with the class, it provides a world of information for researching topics we are learning about, they can also capture videos or photographs that bring the sights and sounds of the world into the classroom. Technology provides a rich resource for students to investigate the topics that we study in our class. To further enhance this technology learning experience, three additional Chromebooks will enable me to have almost a complete classroom set of Chromebooks. These computers greatly enhance my reading and writing workshops because it will promote effective learning collaboration groups. The Chromebooks will also allow my students to research, write and easily edit their own stories and essays and have a beautifully printed version to publish and share with their peers. It also allows my students that speak other language to access many programs that will assist them in learning a new language. These Chromebooks will allow me as the teacher, to effectively assess and monitor their learning progress. Receiving this technology would bring a rich resource for engaging my students in a dynamic and fun learning experience this year!
