Part A - Third grade builds the foundation for a student’s development of fractional thinking. Many of our third grade team members took a professional development class that focused on how students build a conceptual and representational understanding of fractions. By donating to our project, you will be providing five classrooms with the hands-on manipulatives and tools needed to teach fractions to our students in a meaningful and effective way. Part B – Third grade is also the time when a child’s vocabulary really starts to mature and blossom. We work on synonyms and word choice in our writing. Having thesauruses in our classroom would provide our students with access to hundreds of words to enrich their vocabulary and their writing. Vocabulary development is also essential for helping our ESL students growth and progress.
