As a second year teacher, I have learned that students often lose material, and because of this it is difficult to have students refer back to feedback left on their work, previous notes, and graphic organizers. If you want to change the culture, you will have to start by changing the organization. My goal with the binders is to teach my students organizational skills needed to be successful in high school and beyond. Due to the low-income community that I teach, it is unrealistic to expect the family to provide students with school supplies. Through this project, I hope to help my students prepare for class by removing the financial burden.
