Varied seating options that allow for more movement and comfort can help a variety of learning obstacles. I chose to request wobble chairs and bean bag chairs for this purpose. I have heard numerous testimonies about what these wobble chairs can do to help fidgety and energetic students stay focused during class. I have also heard many praises from different professional development courses, about the great help that different (and sometimes more comfortable) seating can provide to those who are needing to feel the freedom and exploration of learning during classroom lessons and independent work times. I have some seat cushions that the class is loving, but I would love to also provide everyone with a special turn every so often with seating that is more comfortable during reading and writing. Both my energetic group eager to learn, and my less-enthusiastic bunch needing to change up their seating, can benefit from having more options. The wobble chairs help those needing to stay moving and fidgeting during lessons or during independent work, while other more comfortable options during these times can assist to those students who need a variety of views and ways to stay engaged.
