With an average of 30 students per class, my students come from a variety of backgrounds, and all have very different resources that they are able to bring into the classroom. Regardless of this, my students come to the classroom ready and excited to learn every day. My goal with this project is to start the school year off right, with enough supplies to meet the basic needs of all of my students. My students use all of these resources on a daily basis. In French class, we routinely use individual whiteboards to work on everything from verb conjugation to vocabulary. We frequently run out of dry erase markers and erasers for the white boards, resulting in precious resources being exhausted (example, using tissues to erase the boards). We use art materials (colored pencils, markers, crayons, etc.) to illustrate the various French projects we create, from cultural research projects to creating original texts and supplementing them with drawing. In my English classroom, highlights and sticky notes are used for every text we read, to annotate, reflect and learn from the literature we are using. I am also hoping to supply graphic novel versions of The Odyssey and Romeo and Juliet in order to differentiate for students who need extra support. The list below also includes more basic needs, such as Kleenex and snacks for students who need them. Unfortunately, this is not something currently available within the budget, but desperately needed for student success. Examples of things we need: -Tissues/Kleenex -Alternative graphic novel versions of texts -Erasers -Pencils -Dry erase markers -Erasers for white boards -Pens -Colored Pencils -Crayons -Cleaning supplies -Sticky notes -Snacks With gratitude, Ellie Virlouvet
