As a PE Teacher I was crushed when a student said "Can we do something fun?" I opted to not get angry but change what I was doing. You have to offer a variety and keep things new. Let's do something new and exciting, let's learn a new game! With the Lacrosse equipment I am reaching in to the culture of our state. Lacrosse has its roots in the native American Culture and in Oklahoma that is who we are. The Lacrosse sets allow me to engage a large number of students at one time. They are able to learn a culturally relevant game and learn a new sport. The more things I can introduce the more opportunities open up for them. There are so many aspects to the game throwing, catching, moving in space, tracking, team work, fair play and cooperation the list goes on. This equipment will allow my students to explore a new sport and do something new and exciting. The Ultrafoam Bonkerball sets allow us to work on some baseball/softball skills indoors. It is hard to practice baseball and softball skills and keep it fun and new. This lets us explore a new way. It utilizes all the skills from baseball/softball in a modified game where everyone is playing at the same time so we don't have time to sit around. Once the ball is put in play fielders have to try and catch it then pass it and relay it to the catcher. It teaches fielding, hitting and strategy in a way where the students are active and moving. This also allows us to play in the gym where if the weather is bad we are still able to practice. Obtaining equipment lets me introduce NEW games so kids aren't tired of the same games.
