Who likes working with middle schoolers? No one ever likes middle school anyway, right? Well that's why this particular demographic of students needs attention . . . they're commonly overlooked! Here at the Boys and Girls Club of the Peninsula, I'm working to close the opportunity gap in education by ensuring school success and SEL development. A group of students wants to start a music club after school since our elementary school/district does not provide a music teacher or have a music department. We also want to move away from traditional classical instruments with the hope of providing a fun, creative environment where we can cover songs, build community, and also learn a little bit about Hawaiian culture.
Your donation of a class set of ukuleles supports our classroom to help discover new passions and reach out for a world much bigger than that of our small Redwood City community; I know I as well as my students will be incredibly thankful for this opportunity to create music together, learn, and bring happiness to other. Thank you.
