These copies of Frankenstein will give my students a piece of classic literature to augment the collection of diverse books that they already appreciate. As my students enjoy the books they've chosen for independent reading, having this classic will give us a common text to examine for standards regarding rhetorical strategies and narrative structure. These books will allow my students to read a longer work of fiction and enjoy the rhetoric and relevance found in Frankenstein. These young men and women want to be challenged with deep texts and meaningful discussion, so access to Mary Shelley's classic is a gift tailored to my students' academic wants and needs. Frankenstein has inspired so many apathetic readers to think critically and enjoy reading, I can only imagine what my students will accomplish with it.
