Students come into their learning space each day bringing with them a myriad of outside of school experiences. When students are faced with challenges emotionally and socially, they need support to regulate their emotions in order to show up as their best selves in the learning environment. This project will help to create a space that allows for students to engage in that emotion regulation and calming practice will allow them to show up as their best self. This sensory space will include sensory items like alternative lighting, a fuzzy rug, fidgets, a sound machine and stress ball toys. This room will be a tool to nurture our students' self advocacy skills and support their emotional growth and development.
