Working with severely disabled students is such a joy every single day. Unfortunately, being profoundly disabled makes for some challenges for most of my students. Many require daily rest, sometimes recovery from seizures and other ailments and physical therapy. The special education classrooms are not equipped with floor mats, and they are very hard to come buy in our school system. If equipment can not be found within our school system, we as teachers either have to purchase the equipment ourselves (which can be very costly) or fundraise. Having a mat in the classroom would allow our students to maintain their daily physical therapy sessions and will work as a comfortable place for the students to relax and rest in the afternoons.
