I am trying to create a classroom environment where students are independently reading books of interest on a daily basis. I have a range of Lexile-levels in my classroom and students from all over the world. Some are refugees, some are immigrants, some are natives, but they all learn from each other and I want to make sure that the books in my classroom reflect their diversity, develop empathy, and help them feel seen and heard. Students are reading these novels daily and creating projects that they present to their peers to encourage each other to read even more. Each book is a step toward my goal! Thank you.
