Almost everyday I come across an App that would revolutionize learning for my students as well as the way they view technology. There are endless educational apps in the current market that would allow me to differentiate what each student is learning based on their specific needs and IEP goals. As a special education classroom our entire day is run in centers. My 8 students rotate between one center with me, one center with my instructional assistant, and one independent center for all core content areas. Having iPads would allow our independent center time to be used exponentially better.
iPad's are magical engagement instruments. No matter what you are asking a child to do, even if it is their least favorite thing to do in the world, it automatically becomes engaging if it involves an iPad. This is especially useful in a Special Education classroom where the students are often not successful in typical areas of academia. Getting a child to attend to a task in an area they have previously been unsuccessful in is a large barrier in Special Education and using iPad's is a simple solution to remove that barrier. I cannot wait to see the growth that having this technology will bring to my students.
