My students need to have engaging books that will help foster their learning. The following books have been carefully chosen for not only their diversity and uniqueness but also for the powerful lessons that students can learn and apply to their own lives, such as the power of kindness. With these books I will model how to think deeply, ask questions and monitor comprehension. I feel that these books will help us make reading fun and encourage students to be excited about their learning! We will not only foster a love of reading but create some great memories! These books will not only enrich our second grade reading curriculum, but my students will learn crucial reading skills through a variety of genres and authors. One book will be used each week to help teach important reading skills through vocabulary, comprehension, grammar, and phonics. The books I am requesting will also allow students to make global connections, build background knowledge, and bring reading to life These book will not only be used with this class but will be used for many more students to come! They truly will touch many students lives.
