I embrace all learners in my classroom and some of my students need to move. It helps them concentrate and reduces stress, anxiety, and disruption. Although I do my best to get them up and moving around the classroom, sometimes they need to sit and get things done. The Kick Bands for student chairs allow them to wiggle and jiggle their legs and feet while their hands and brains are engaged in their reading and writing. It can make a huge difference for many students. Engagement in a "just right" text during independent reading does more to grow readers than just about anything else in a classroom. The connectable book bins will be used by my students to organize independent reading materials. This will mean more time immersed in text and less time looking for something to read. The extra time spent using their reading strategies has a big payoff for students.
