We need a color printer and laminator to provide my students with color visual supports to help them better communicate and understand speech and language. Visual supports are an important part of speech and language. Some of the visual supports that we create and use, serve to help bring functional understanding to literacy, provide visual schedules to create structure and routine, and are used as low tech communication for those who are unable to communicate through speech. These visual supports help the students we work with to not only gain a better understanding of their speech and language, but also provide them with ways to communicate with those around them. A color printer will allow me to create personalized speech and language supports to each individual that our speech and language department serves. Every student has different needs and visual supports can help them meet their individualized goals. The laminator will allow us to use these visual supports across a variety of students and keep the materials in excellent condition for years to come.
