Many of my students already love reading and a classroom library would further deepen their love for reading by showing them new stories of people that look like them and have similar experiences as them. It will also expose them to new experiences and stories to help them learn more about the world. "The Hate U Give" is many of my student's favorite book because it represents a story that they see happening in their communities. Books like this one would really get my students into reading and help them process and unpack the different issues they see around them. If we expect to see change in the world, it starts with informing our young people of what is happening around them. I have faith that my students will be a part of the solution for police brutality. Providing them a classroom library is building up their awareness to be able to tackle real world issues. Some of my student's hate reading because they simply have not found the right book. A classroom library would provide my students the opportunity to find a book that they will fall in love with and get them into reading. We all deserve to fall in love with a good book!
