My students are eager to learn English and are fascinated by History. If I can teach History while annotating specific vocabulary in Chinese, I can efficiently, synergistically, and simultaneously teach English and content to these ELL students. Having an iPad and Apple Pencil allows me to conduct such annotations in real time. Currently, my school does not have a smartboard that I can use to easily annotate images and texts. Having the iPad and Apple Pencil transforms my classroom screen into a smartboard, which enables me to quickly annotate in two languages and later post these class notes to the web. When you were in school, do you recall how quickly you learned when a teacher demonstrated a concept step-by-step, in real time? That is the effect I am trying to achieve. The iPad and Apple Pencil would be used every day in the classroom to support student-learning. With the instant ability to annotate notes in various colors on images and text, my students’ engagement with the materials will surely increase. This will dramatically transform the learning experience of 136 students!
