The subscriptions to the Scholastic Action Magazine will give my students the opportunity to read about relevant information that is targeted to their interest level while at the same time be appropriate for their lower reading levels. The majority of the materials available for my high school students to read are either to high for their independent reading level or are not age appropriate; additionally all of their text books are meant for the typical student that is easily able to read grade level texts. The Scholastic magazines will appeal to my students because the content will be at their reading level, as well as exposing the students to science and social studies content that is comprehendible to them. Additionally, Scholastic Action Magazine will further help my students develop skills in reading, writing, research, oral conventions, and written conventions as the articles are connected to state and national standards. Your donation will allow students the opportunity to find their passion for reading, as they become exposed to high-interest articles with low-level texts.
