Students with learning disabilities benefit from the choice of alternative/flexible seating. Sitting on a Wobble Chair in a small group may help a student stay focused on the learning task, rather than the distraction of not being able to sit still. Also, having the choice of reading on a Wobble Cushion, a SoftZone Floor Cushion, or a Balance Ball Chair motivates a student to work for a longer period of time. Students can get their wiggles out through alternative seating. Students enjoy having the choice to find a different kind of a seat to do their work. When working on a writing piece on a computer, students may like the choice of a lap desk on the floor as an option. Keeping students with special needs interested in their work through the choice of flexible seating is important.
