In my classroom I try to create a space that children feel safe and included. I am trying to create as many opportunities as possible for my students to feel successful while at school. I have added alternative seating through a previous donors choose project, and I am now trying to incorporate more hands on cooperative learning opportunities for my students through my current donors choose project. I teach both first and second grades. In my building we loop up to second grade with our first graders and then back down to first grade after the second graders move to third grade. This gives me and the students ample time to get to know each other. By the time my students leave me I know them on a personal level. I think that having a personal connection with my students helps them feel safe and loved while at school.
