Creating a classroom environment that includes flexible seating will help my children use Voice and Choice to improve their learning. Do you like sitting at a desk all day with a hard chair? Neither do I! Did you like it when YOU were in First Grade? Neither did I!!! Let's get the students some comfy floor seats to sit on when reading a book... Or some stools so they can "wiggle" a bit when they are working hard on their writing. Maybe some cushions for the floor so they can move around while figuring out their math problem. Let's make my students' learning experience a more positive one by providing them with flexible seating options to use while they work so hard (Have you checked out the Frameworks... First grade isn't what it used to be!).
