Hello everyone!! Welcome to my page!! I am a Deaf Education first and second grade teacher!! I love my students as if they are my own children! I am Deaf myself so I consider myself lucky to have my students. A large percentage of Deaf Ed students come from families where the parents do not know how to sign with them or communicate with them! :( In my classroom, I strongly believe in giving my students all tools in order for them to succeed. I am always coming up with new ideas on how to teach and allow my students to explore learning through hands-on activities. One dream of mine is to have students create movies and stories through videotaping. They need to be able to see themselves signing and criticize themselves. This is one skill Deaf students often lack because of the lack of communication at home. They need to own their language and to create stories and dreams through their hands! :)
