My students and I have worked together to create a STEM curriculum that addresses physics’ force & gravity, chemistry's molecular diffusion, and biology's photosynthesis. From egg drops, lava lamps, bath bombs, volcanos and even slime my students are building healthy relationships with science. Every day they are helping to break down gender and socioeconomic stereotypes. Especially bias associated the with women and people of color in science, technology, engineering and mathematics related fields. My students are passionate about conducting and learning about the experiments they have created and researched. However, they are in need of materials to ensure their success. My students will use baking soda and modeling clay to make volcanos in which they will learn about chemical reactions. My students will also use Epsom salt, citric acid, fragrance oils, gloves, bowls and molds to make bath bombs as well as Elmer's glue for slime to further their understanding of chemical reactions. In addition, my students will use paper clips and magnets to conduct an experiment on liquids impact on magnets. They will use this experiment to learn about force.
