A new library will enhance my students language development in both languages. Exposure to books at their level is an essential component in the classroom. A wide variety of books must be available to all students. Bilingual students need a variety of books rich in pictures and props that motivate and challenges them. These books will provide a print rich environment adequate for this population. One of the biggest challenges for a bilingual classroom is to find resources in the native language. Books in the student's native language are important because these students need to master their native language sounds first in order to make the transfer to the second language. Having access to quality books in both languages is a requisite for academic success.
