I believe my students need hands-on materials to aide in their learning. I want my students to go above and beyond traditional pencil and paper learning. Unifix Cubes are wonderful tools to use in order to understand counting and cardinality, measurement, greater-than and less-than representations, and addition and attraction. Using the literacy Unifix cubes will help my students learn and play through word building. They can create their own words or use picture dot cards to build Consonant-Vowel-Consonant (CVS) words. Additionally, Kindergartners need proper writing journals with developmentally appropriate lines and spaces to develop and explore their writing skills. These simple yet effective tools and materials will go a long way in facilitating a more hands-on classroom that makes learning fun and interactive.
