The ability to use flexible seating in my 7th and 8th grade social studies classroom will allow students to learn in a comfortable and innovative fashion. Providing students with a multitude of options for both independent and group instruction allows increased student motivation and engagement. The stability ball chairs will allow students to move and fidget while attending to lessons and activities without disrupting their peers. The stools will help to improve posture all while implementing another creative option for seating. The futon is great way to provide a soft sitting spot for those students who wish to work in groups. I have also requested two standing desks. This will provide students that can, at times, get a little restless an opportunity to stand during instruction time. They also allow for them to wiggle and and pace a little while being engaged in whole and small group lessons.
