One of the greatest things about science, especially chemistry, is the real life applications we do in class. Students love being real scientists! We need lab coats to create the atmosphere that the students are doing actual lab work with proper equipment and attire. As a teacher, one of the most important aspects to my chemistry classroom is adhering to safe lab practices. The lab coats will help with this task. On a different note, the students look forward to wearing lab coats because it gives them a sense of importance and they can visualize being a future scientist! When students wear actual chemistry lab coats, the enthusiasm for the lesson is magnified! The use of lab coats may not seem significant to most people, but I believe in the words of William Arthur Ward: "If you can dream it, you can become it." What better way to start the dream than to dress for success!
